Discover the stunning landscapes of the Sacred Valley of the Incas on this half-day tour that takes you to two of the most fascinating sites in the region. Explore the ingenious system of circular terraces in Moray and the ancient Salineras de Maras, where salt extraction continues as in pre-Incan times.
Itinerary
We depart from Cusco towards the highlands of Maras and Moray, enjoying a picturesque drive through the Sacred Valley. Our first stop is Moray, a set of circular agricultural terraces that the Incas used as an agricultural laboratory. Here, our guide will explain to us how these terraces allowed the creation of microclimates to experiment with different crops. The view from the top of the terraces is impressive and allows us to appreciate the ingenious Inca engineering.
Next, we continue to the Salineras de Maras, a complex of more than 3,000 salt pools that have been exploited since pre-Incan times. We will have the opportunity to walk among the pools and learn about the traditional process of salt extraction. The landscape here is unique and offers excellent opportunities for photographs. After this fascinating visit, we return to Cusco, enjoying panoramic views of the Andean landscapes along the way.
